AIKI-INTEGRATED ARTS
In 2002, Aikido Institute became a non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization under the name Aiki-Integrated Arts, with a Mission to provide instruction to the public in the art of Aikido and other movement arts, for the benefit of the practitioners and the community at large. Aiki-Integrated Arts is the vehicle for funding Aikido Institute’s programs, and all proceeds from dues and other collectibles go directly towards fulfilling the non-profit mission.
All dojo instructors volunteer their time with the purpose, or mission, of teaching Aikido to the general public. This non-profit, volunteer, member-led structure is an important characteristic for students to know because it helps inform an understanding of the proper attitude, which should be one of community and camaraderie, and a sense of doing what one can to ‘pitch in’ and be involved.
